Hidden Lake Lookout in the North Cascades
Mountains + a lake = my ideal hike. Bonus: a workout! With numerous peaks and mountain views, this has been my favorite hike in the North Cascades. As you get near to top, you travel across a short snow field to get to Hidden Lake. I didn’t find it challenging. The entire hike offers gorgeous mountain views, with the best view being at the end – Hidden Lake! Wildflowers were in bloom in late July.
After reaching Hidden Lake, we scrambled up to the lookout too & enjoyed lunch.
The only downfall of this hike was the road getting to the trail head. As hiking reports described, there were many pot holes in the road & one in particular was impossible to get by. Therefore, we had to park below the pot hole and hike up to the trail head. We were also in a compact car. Trucks or SUVs shouldn’t have a problem.
